Wellness Care

During your pet's wellness (or preventative) care visit at Brazos Animal Hospital, we'll work with you to ensure they are protected and healthy. We'll review all the annual recommendations, including vaccinations and important screenings like blood work, heartworm tests, and intestinal parasite checks. We'll also discuss the best options for heartworm, flea, and tick prevention, helping you choose a plan that fits your pet's lifestyle and your family's needs. If you have any concerns about your pet's behavior or diet, we're here to provide guidance and support.

Diagnostic Testing

At Brazos Animal Hospital, we know that getting answers quickly is crucial for your pet's health. Our in-house laboratory allows our veterinarians to provide rapid and accurate diagnoses for common conditions like ear infections, urinary tract infections, and diabetes. We collect and analyze samples, including blood, ear swabs, feces, and urine, right here at our clinic. For more complex cases, we partner with a trusted reference laboratory to ensure a comprehensive diagnosis.

We also have advanced diagnostic imaging on-site, including radiographs (X-rays) and ultrasound. This allows us to see what's happening inside your pet, helping us pinpoint illnesses and injuries quickly so we can begin the best possible treatment plan.

Alternative therapies

When traditional treatments aren't enough, we offer advanced alternative therapies to help your pet feel their best. Our services include acupuncture, laser therapy, and spinal manipulation. These therapies can be used to complement traditional medicine and pain management, or as a standalone option if your pet is not responding well to conventional treatments. This integrated approach allows us to create a personalized plan that addresses your pet's unique needs, ensuring they receive the most comprehensive and compassionate care possible.

  • Acupuncture

Clinical trials indicate that acupuncture therapy can be effective for musculoskeletal problems (muscle soreness, back pain, osteoarthritis), neurological disorders: (intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), laryngeal hemiplegia, and facial and radial nerve paralysis), and many other conditions.

  • Laser therapy

  • Spinal manipulation

Spinal manipulation is a gentle, hands-on therapy used to restore normal motion to a pet's spine. By carefully adjusting areas of restriction, this treatment can alleviate pain, improve mobility, and help resolve chronic conditions like arthritis, hip dysplasia, and intervertebral disc disease. Many animals experience immediate relief and find the treatment to be comfortable, allowing them to heal and function at their best.
